NICHS Youth and Community Project
focuses on working with young
people aged 9-18 years and their community leaders from
marginalised communities in the greater Belfast area.
The Project creates an environment where positive
relationships and cross-community partnerships can be developed and
sustained between the groups who participate.
Accredited training for both young people and community
leaders is offered and provides a tangible incentive for all participants,
this is achieved through the delivery of the NICHS OCN Cultural
Relations Programmes at Levels 1 and 2. NICHS works closely
with the community and young people
Participating community
leaders are encouraged to be actively involved in all aspects of the
programme, from planning and time-tabling to facilitation.
By developing the skills of the leaders who participate in
the programme there is a positive growth in capacity and a greater
impact in long term contact possibilities.
